- People are treated as objects and not human beings
Probably one of the biggest traits of a toxic manager is that they don’t respect their employees. Respect is a two-way street: you give respect and then you get it back. But with a manager who doesn’t see their employees as human beings, respecting is a far fetched idea. So, when you see this trend in your workplace, it can suggest that the management style is not that great and that you need to go somewhere you feel worthy.
2. Passive-aggressiveness with micromanaging – not a good combo
Managers who aren’t deemed good by their employees will often be very passive-aggressive and may tend to micromanage. So they may scrutinize everything going on in the office and can involve themselves a bit too much into the nooks and crannies of workplace activities. This does not only demotivate employees but also makes them lose their confidence upon themselves.
